Dr. Marek Makowski
As a senior admissions consultant, Dr. Marek Makowski has worked with hundreds of high school students for nearly a decade to help them gain acceptance at Ivy League and other highly- ranked schools. By developing thoughtful, inspiring relationships, he guides students to discover their interests, gain internships, and develop strong leadership skills. Dr. Makowski has been particularly successful at helping students stand out with unique application narratives while guiding them to submit compelling applications.
Prior to joining Spark, Dr. Makowski served in advisory roles for Princeton University and Harvard University. He also previously held admissions, advising, and administrative positions at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he was awarded for his “life-changing” writing courses and led educational initiatives across STEM and humanities departments. Dr. Makowski’s wide- ranging experience has allowed him to effectively coach students in both STEM and non-STEM disciplines.
Dr. Makowski graduated summa cum laude for his B.A. before earning his M.A. and Ph.D. in literary studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He lives in Chicago, where he can be found playing tennis and attending academic seminars at the University of Chicago.
